Note

Tulip was pictured in the 1998 Ty Catalog as the mirror image of Shelby; she was listed with Shelby's style number, 6024. No Shelbys with Tulip hang tags have ever been verified, but two Tulip hang tags have been discovered; one on a 6th generation Nicholas and one on a 6th generation Prince. What is very interesting about the Tulip tag is that the style number on the back of the tag, 6078, belongs to Rose. Back in May of 2000, when the Prince was discovered, we speculated that there was an error in the 1998 Ty Catalog; Shelby should have been listed as Shelby. Furthermore, the Tulip name and hang tags were really intended for Rose, but perhaps because Ty already produced a Plush pig by the name of Tulip, her name was changed to Rose.

That theory has now been validated. Ann McBrayer, who is the proud owner of a complete Ty catalog collection, has provided scans of a seemingly rare flyer from early 1998. The flyer pictures, among other Ty products, the bunny trio introduced in 1998, now known as Iris, Ivy, and Rose. Rose, however, is pictured as Tulip, and described as #6078 Tulip: small jointed brown rabbit with pink overalls. Interestingly, Tulip, the Plush pig, is also listed on this flyer.
